Our fiscal policy aims at

achieving a balanced budget over the medium term. To this end, we

are committed to containing this year's general government budget

deficit to LVL 79 million, or 13/4 percent of GDP, despite the

adoption by Parliament in June of a supplementary budget that

would otherwise imply a rise in the deficit of 0.2 percent of

GDP. To help ensure this outcome, we will not submit to

Parliament a second supplementary budget.
